Sorry bud, gas cooking just does not compare to wood! Might as well just use an electric oven in that case, both equal tasteless. The magic is in the smoke, without the smoke, there is only seasoning. Nothing beats cooking with wood/charcoal… But you can still cook anything these guys do, their recopies are very simple as well as the process.

You can do it, but you’ll totally be missing what a BBQ pit flavor is all about. Wood smoke is god in the food realm!

Thanks

Cooking is more an art then a science. Ditch the rule book and feel your way through the process. Corn starch is also a good option in place of flour. But add it towards the end of cooking in either case. You could also add a bit of browning sauce to make it look like what you buy in can form in regards to beef stew.

Either way, cook, play, have fun and don’t worry about the minutes, it’s all done when it’s done, and not a moment sooner!

Just my opinion, thanks.

@mikeybaby77 yes, only turn one of the 2 flames on. use indirect heat. add hickory smoke if needed

pmharl @ 12:38 pm #

1348 to 1358 the pot moved….can you tell us how many minutes that was? usually at least 10 minutes after you add flour no?

mikeybaby77 @ 12:53 pm #

Pit Boys, you guys are really the best in the game. I learned how to cook just by watching you… and of course doing. But i thought I knew how to cook before hand. you know just a little here and there. But Mmmm… Oh and that music, Lol Classic! Man that’s GOOD!

macbolan00 @ 5:08 pm #

this is the only convincing steak soup recipe i’ve seen in my life! cook books treat t-bone steak soup or porterhouse soup as though it was some kind of a joke.

hansalas @ 5:25 pm #

Great recipe..
shit, I am hungry already….

Just a quick qn,
But isnt using ripeye for a stew quite expensive, wudnt it be better to use shank (shin) or some cheaper cut..

mgierb @ 5:38 pm #

@sharkate7 Thats right. What about revision3 ? They have one cooking show called Food Mob.

PS: Any time I watch your videos I get my self something to eat because I get hungry haha great job guys!

cnuques @ 6:23 pm #

like to cook this in the fall in MS. Bout 60 degrees outside, spend a lil time outside round lunch cookin, then head in to watch some SEC football. (oh and dont forget a nice pan of mexican style cornbread) woooweee

RAYZE1ER @ 8:16 pm #

When I make stew it usually takes more than two hours for the meat (beef) to tenderise. I wonder how that stew is that you guys make. I’m sure its good cuz it looks like you know what your doing.

pookermit @ 8:28 pm #

i like how he uses a knife to do everything :)

Stapler78 @ 9:20 pm #
